Week with Dad and Amy ~ 11/23 - 11/29

Andrew had an awesome week. He took a trip to Silverlake and was very cooperative. He increased his treadmill time to 10 minutes (great for him). I don't know if it's just gotten too cold but there was no mention of leaving his swim trunks on... no melt down at Silverlake = another visit earned.

We had a busy day on Thanksgiving. We traveled to Louisville to see family and Adrew actually sat at a table and ate with many others.. big accomplishment for Andrew!! After a few hours in Louisville we traveled a couple hours to Alexandria to visit his Aunt Nicole and Uncle Jerry. Andrew again amazed us by sitting with a group of people and watching them perform rock bank. Good stuff. We ended the day telling Andrew how proud we were of him for his great behavior and participation in the day. I know he understands what we're saying, I just wish he could tell us.

On Saturday we allowed the little ones to have a couple of friends over. While we were worried about Andrew's reaction and interactions with them we decided to give it a shot. He did awesome! He played and interacted some and also allowed them to watch movies on their own.

Andrew had a great week - No meltdowns! Things are looking up!

Andrew's Week 11/2-11/9, 2009

Andrew had a great weekend. Ms. Picard called (his teacher) and said he is doing great there as well. He is becoming much more verbal and it is very appropriate. She loves his sense of humor!

He seems to be very content and comfortable with Angela. She is working out very well and they seem to get along great. She keeps him pretty busy after school and they seem to have a lot of fun.

Andrew is doing better everyday and such a happy boy!!

Andrews week 10-5/10-11-2009

Andrew had a great week at Mom and Franc's. He did very well and very compliant. Angela watched him all day on Friday and is watching him today (Monday) since school is out. She is working very well with him and getting much more comfortable. Lois watched him all day on Saturday the 10th so we could all go and run in the race for the cure in Louisville. Lois said he was very well behaved and had a lot of fun.

He started to get bored and a little loud on Sunday morning so I took him out to the library and he was much better after that. I ended up giving him a Klonopin just on Sunday and he was great the rest of the day. He was really looking forward to seeing everyone at Dad's.

He seems to be healing up quite well from the athletes foot and has a couple of pills left for this week. I refilled the cream and think we should continue this until completely cleared up. I sent both the cream and pills with Angela. Also, I'm not sure if you guys are giving her money for Andrew when they go out but we are giving her $20 each week so she is not limited to what she can do with him.

Week of 9/7-9/13

Andrew had a great week. Angela came to the house on Thursday night to observe him, we had dinner and talked and she seems fine with everything, very nice girl. She met with Theresa at NorthKey and set everything up so she can start on Monday the 14th. She will be meeting Andrew at Candy's house this week so she can get a better feel of what she is suppose to do and better communication with Andrew. Candy is awesome with him and it will be a big help for Angela.

Franc and I had a great weekend with Andrew and he was very happy and pleasant. We went to Big Bone State Park, the library, the Mall and he was great.

Andrews teachers sent home sheets this week with a lot more detail and info we are wanting to see. We have our IEP meeting this Tuesday the 15th at school and will iron out all the things we are requesting for Andrew. We also have an appointment at Children's on the same day to take a look at his meds and how everything is going for Andrew. Tuesday will be a very busy day........

Message to Teacher

Hello, How was Andrew's day yesterday? It is his week at his mom's so I do not know if there was a note sent home. I would really appreciate if we could work out a daily email. In the evening, we would like to reward good behavior and withhold reward for unacceptable behavior. To do so we need your input.

Additionally, if there are specific things we can let you know....e.g. did he sleep well ...etc Maybe we can iron out details in the upcoming meeting but in the meantime if you could at least send something daily so we can make sure the emails are going through.

Labor Day Weekend

Last week was a pretty good week. Andrew was in good spirits. He woke around 3:30 Sunday morning because he wet the bed and never went back to sleep. He did get a little cranky later in the day but had no melt downs.

I have been sending them to both of you. Maybe I am sending them the wrong way for both of you to get them. I am sorry you haven't recieved them. Until I am sure you are recieving my emails I am going to write in his book each day so their is no confusion. It is important to let you know what Andrew is doing and how he is doing. I appreciate your families support and envolvement. He is doing well and we have started the recycing program. Andrew is going to be a great worker. He has really enjoyed collecting the paper this week. He is doing well with his IEP goals and has made progress. Sorry for any confusion. Debbie Picard :-)

We are not receiving daily updates from Andrew's teacher... so I sent the following email.


"Hello Ms. Picard, we have only recieved one email update this week. It is crutial that we implement and maintain daily communication between school and BOTH parents. Andrew will not tell us about his day, what he is working on or any problem areas.

We will provide input or help in anyway we can. Please let us know what we can do to help!

Message from Mom about After School care

I called and talked with Angela and she is going to come by the house tomorrow evening so we can meet. I explained to her the schedule we have and that if this works out she would meet the bus at my house everyday (I will verify the time) and on your weeks she would bring him back home. If she is still interested after talking tomorrow, I told her I would let North Key know and we can set up the training she will need. I also mentioned to her about days that school is out and if she would have a problem with that. She said she is only attending school 2 days a week so hopefully we will not run into that too much. I told her you were set up for CLS in case of an emergency. Franc is going to get set up as well so that if necessary we have a backup. I also mentioned to her about the summer and if she would let us know for next year as it gets closer if she would be interested in those hours. If not to give us as much time as possible to find someone else. She was fine with the $12/hour.

The lady Candy recommended is kind of in the same situation, she has someone in the afternoons and would have to use Respite as well. So, if Angela works out that’s great but if not I would suggest us looking at Care.com and seeing what options we have there. Candy is coming by our house tonight to pick up her time sheet and will bring to your house tomorrow. Once you have initialed her time she will bring over for me to fax to North Key.

Andrew is doing a great job, overall. He is doing well with his schedule. We are getting ready to update
his assessment measures now that school is underway. We have been working on math and social skills.

Andrew's Week 8-24th/8-31st

Andrew had a very good week with us. The evenings were very laid back and calm. We only had to give him Klonopine once this weekend. He was getting anxious and kind of loud but nothing major.
We went to Lousiville on Saturday for a b-day party and he was very good, considering there were approx. 40 people there and we were there about 5-6 hours. He was ready to go and getting pretty loud at the end so we gave him his Trazadone as we were leaving town. He was great the rest of the evening. He was very happy this morning and ready to get on the bus......
I think getting his Trazadone by 7:30pm on weeknights works great for him so he is usually asleep by 9pm and well rested the next morning. We stick with pretty much the same schedule on the weekends to keep it in his system properly.

Yesterday from school

Hey Guys another week. Andrew is doing a good job. He completed his Ablls and did money math yesterday.
He confuses quarters and nickles when prompted, however sorts them appropriately. He has made a great adjustment. His sense of humor was showing yesterday when we played a word game. He had Martha and I laughing out loud.

Message to teacher from mom

Thanks for your email, sounds like a great schedule for Andrew.

Is there anyway that he could work on his math earlier in the day? I’m sure he is very tired by that point and unable to concentrate as well. Not sure what your flexibility is with that but it might be worth trying.

Mike/I will send you an email when something is out of the ordinary for Andrew that we feel you need to be made aware of. You can email me anytime during the day with questions you may have.

Today at School

Andrew is did a good job today. It amazes my how many machine he can distinguish by sounds.
He is getting use to the schedule. However, it will change next week. He will be getting out in an art class with myself and Matha during 2nd block. He will also be in gym initially with both of us at 1:45. Cooking will not start until Sept. when we will be in the community.

He is working with the ABLLS and knows quite a bit of it. Andrew does math in the afternoon and has a preoccupation with the bus. He is independent at lunch and orders/behaves much like his same age peers. He and Taylor eat lunch together everyday.

Andrew had a good week at Dad's house. He was a little wound up Saturday and we gave him 1 klonopine mid morning. The rest of the week was as normal with 40 mg. of celexa in the morning and 100 mg of Tramzadone between 7-8 pm in the evening.

Where to start....... Andrew is a 15 year old male. He was diagnosed as Autistic around age 3 1/2. I will try to give a better historical view at some point, for now I am looking to start this as a communiction tool for his teachers and parents. It might also be of interest to Andrew's family....and hopefully someday....FRIENDS!!!
